This Parmesan Broiled Tilapia is so easy and delicious, making it one of my absolute favorite tilapia recipes!  With just a few minutes to prep and this whole dish is on the table in 10 minutes start to finish!

Serve this easy dish with a squeeze of fresh lemon or Dill Pickle Tartar Sauceroasted broccoli and a side salad for the perfect meal.

What is Tilapia?

Tilapia is a white fish that was traditionally found in Africa, but is now farmed in many countries including domestically. It is an excellent source of protein and a good source of vitamins and minerals. So not only is it good for you, but the fact that it is delicious is just a bonus!

While this recipe calls for tilapia, any white fish can easily be substituted with excellent results!

How to Cook Tilapia

You’ll be amazed at how easy (and quick) most tilapia recipes are. Like most fish, it is important that you do not overcook your tilapia fillets as they can dry out. You can cook tilapia in the oven or it can be poached, fried, or broiled.

In this recipe, I have chosen to broil it. I love how quick it is but also that this tilapia recipe creates a very moist flaky fish with a beautifully browned parmesan crust!

How Long to Cook Tilapia in the Oven

While you can easily make oven baked tilapia, I do love broiling it to make it really fast.  Broiled on high, this tilapia recipe only takes 3-4 minutes per side, depending of course on the size of the fillet. If the fish fillet is quite large you will need to increase broil time by a minute each side.

Baking tilapia is as easy as broiling is but will not produce an outer crust as browned and delicious. For this reason I prefer to broil the tilapia in this recipe.

Parmesan Broiled Tilapia is a great start to any meal in under 15 minutes. We serve it with Green Beans with Bacon and a side of Garlic Butter Rice for the perfect meal! Risotto, pasta and of course classic french fries are all great sides for this fresh and crusty entree! While it makes a quick meal during the week, this recipe is definitely one you will want to serve when you have guests over. It will be a favorite for sure!

  1. Amazing flavor. Tender and flaky with a perfectly crisp edge! Thanks for such a great recipe. It’s going in our standard line up!

  2. Just made this tonight and it was AMAZING! My husband commented that it was restaurant quality. I made it exactly as directed but added a clove of finally minced garlic. Yum!5 stars

  3. Beyond Good! Quick, easy, not really expensive, DELICIOUS! I substituted Cilantro Lime Ranch salad dressing for half of the mayo and got a great extra kick. Absolute best way to do tilapia.5 stars

    1. Sounds great Raymond. Thank you for sharing your idea, and I’m so happy to hear that you love this tilapia recipe!

  4. This is fantastic! My son, who tolerates fish but is rarely enthusiastic about it, was raving about this recipe! He said it’s the best fish he ever ate. My hubby and I also loved it!

  5. Holly,
Can the tilapia be cooked in an air fryer and achieve the same crispy topping without drying g the fish out? And would you recommend about the same cooking time at 400°? Adding this entree to my Christmas dinner for my non meat eaters. Sounds fantastic and I know they’ll love. Thanks!

    1. I haven’t tried this in the air fryer although I think it would be great! As for time, since I haven’t tried it, I can’t say for sure. If you try it, please let us know how it goes!

  6. Loved it!!!! Best (and easiest) fish recipe I’ve ever eaten. I added some spices and bread crumbs. That mayo made it so moist and juicy. Fish is usually too dry for me, but that was sooo good. I usually use Tzatziki sauce on all my fish to combat the dryness, but this didn’t even need that (and I ran out) ! Definitely recommend!5 stars

  7. I dont care for dill or lemon on my food, we subbed it for onion powder, it was the fastest BEST fish ever. A staple in my house. I paired it with a brocolli slaw salad for my fam and a bruschetta salad for me. They love broc, I hate it. Overall, dinner was a hit tonight!!!5 stars

  8. Is it grated Parmesan or parmesan that comes in a can on grocery store shelf for tilapia fish recipe?

  9. Quick and Easy to make it taste so delicious I made broccoli and cheese rice to go along with it my family LOVES IT5 stars

  10. This was AMAZING. I cut the mayo in half and didn’t have dill, but otherwise I stuck to the recipe. My kids (10 and 11) LOVED it!5 stars

    1. I have only tried the recipe as written, but that should work. Let us know if you try it!
