Bubble Pizza is almost as much fun to make as it is to eat. If you’ve ever had monkey bread, pull apart pizza bread is a similar concept. Canned biscuit dough (or even homemade biscuits) are tossed with cheese, pizza sauce and toppings for an easy snack!
To turn bubble pizza bread into a meal, add hearty toppings like Italian sausage and serve with a fresh tossed salad or even veggie sticks or Caesar Salad!

A perfect homemade pizza is hands down one of my favorites! Tender chewy crust, zesty sauce and of course loads of toppings. As much as I love a good pizza, I also love having a recipe in my pocket for something that has all of the same delicious flavor with just a few ingredients and very little prep.

Bubble Pizza Ingredients

Since it’s so easy to prepare, pizza bread is the perfect snack to introduce your kids to cooking too! You’ll need just three ingredients:

  • Pizza Sauce
  • Biscuit Dough
    • Canned biscuit dough to keeps this recipe easy
    • Homemade dough (or dough from biscuit mix) will work as well.
  • Shredded Cheese
    • Mozzarella is best for achieving that gooey goodness that makes pull apart pizza bread so good
    • Parmesan adds great flavor
    • Swap in some extra sharp cheddar to pump up the flavor even more
  • Toppings
    • No toppings are required if you’d prefer plain cheese
    • Add fresh basil with mozzarella to create a Margherita Pizza bread
    • Cook watery toppings (like mushrooms) before adding

How to Make Bubble Bread

You won’t believe how easy it is to make a pizza casserole with biscuits. Here’s all you do:

  1. Separate the biscuits and cut into quarters, using kitchen scissors or a knife.
  2. Toss the pieces with the pizza sauce and half the cheese & toppings.
  3. Place the mixture in a casserole dish and bake until puffed up and lightly browned.

Top with the remaining cheese and cook until melted and gooey. So easy!

What to Serve with Pizza Bread

Bubble Up Pizza Bread is the ultimate party snack food, so serve it with a variety of dips that go well with the flavors of pizza. Marinara sauce is a popular (and delicious) choice! Other good options include ranch dip, Blue Cheese Dressing or Spicy Dill Dip.

Bubble Pizza makes a terrific finger food to serve at parties or on game day. Just don’t forget to put out plenty of extra-large napkins –or better yet, a roll of paper towels!

  1. Delicious, easy, flavorful. We love monkey bread and this is a perfect savory cousin. My kids loved it, we will be making it again and again.5 stars

  2. I love this! What a great way to mix up pizza night..but still a great way to mix up my recipe rotation! My whole family will love this!5 stars

  3. What a fun twist on pizza. Great for a fun dinner on the weekend. Easy to make a couple of dishes at once to feed a hungry crowd.5 stars

  4. Biscuit didn’t fully cook all the way tried re putting it back in and for another 10mins and still doughy. Threw whole dish out1 star

    1. Sorry to hear that, Dylan! This recipe is usually a reader favorite. Make sure to use a 9×9 so the biscuits aren’t too crowded in the pan and let them cook for the full 20 minutes or more until lightly browned and center seems cooked.

    1. I can’t say for sure why this didn’t cook for you as the cooking time has worked well for us and other readers. Was your oven set to 375°F? Did you use the pan size recommended (a smaller pan would have thicker dough and need more time). If your dough hasn’t cooked through, you can put it back into the oven for a little bit longer.

  5. I made your easy bubble pizza but I was confused by the instructions. It says to stir the sauce and toppings with the biscuits and the next step says to add the toppings. Am I missing something? I stirred in my mushrooms with everything and then topped it with pepperoni. Turned out nicely but I am just asking for some clarification! Thanks!

    1. Hi Cindy, in step 3 we toss them all together to evenly coat everything in the sauce. Then we spoon the biscuits out of the bowl in step 4 and add the remaining toppings (from the bowl) on top of the biscuits before cooking. Hope that helps!

  6. I tried this thinking it would be easy enough for 2 of my high school grand kids. I bought everything they’d need including the pan (9×9). They followed the recipe BUT decided to double the recipe and share with friends not realizing this should be made in a SINGLE layer. It turned out like glue and they dumped the whole mess. The 2nd try was successful and is now a go-to snack. Thanks for the recipe.5 stars

  7. Wondering what biscuits are you supposed to use?
The package of ten biscuits or the package of Grands biscuits?
Tried it with the package of ten.
Thought it should have had more biscuits.
Very tasty. I added pepperoni chunked into small pieces.

    1. I used the same package you did with 10 biscuits. You can definitely adjust this to your own liking by either adding more biscuits or reducing the sauce/cheese.

  8. Delicious and so easy. I used pizza dough, I didn’t have any bisquits on hand and did not want to make any from scratch. I added onion, red bell pepper and cooked turkey sausage. I cooked it in muffin tins so it would bake quicker.

  9. Tried this last night, it was great! I added Italian sausage and pepperoni. Super easy and delicious! Will definitely make again.

  10. I’m wondering what size biscuits should be used, I bought a can of 4 smaller ones together, but now wondering if one larger one is better? Anyone know the size of the can of dough that should be used?

    1. Been making this for years. I get the cheapest tubes (10 biscuits per tube) I can find. Make it in a 9×13 with 2 tubes of biscuits.

      1. I was wondering the same thing. I usually get the 4 pk of biscuits for Monkey Break but they looked so little. I just used 2 packs and extra sauce. It’s in the oven now, I’m anxious to taste it! ;-)
