Air fryer shrimp is the perfect bite with tender shrimp in a crispy seasoned Panko coating.
It’s an easy solution for last-minute entertaining, a side dish, or even on top of a salad! Why not try air-fried shrimp in tacos too!
Crispy Air Fryer Shrimp
We love this recipe because it’s delicious and healthier than deep-fried shrimp.
This recipe not only is a healthy version of a popular appetizer, but it’s easy and everyone loves it!
Serve it alongside a trio of sauces like teriyaki, honey mustard sauce, or chipotle aioli!
Ingredients/Variations
SHRIMP Choose large shrimp that are peeled and deveined. You can choose shrimp with or without tails.
Fresh or frozen will both work great, if using frozen just make sure they’re thawed and drained (and dabbed dry so the coating will stick)!
BREADING Lemon pepper seasoning, garlic powder, seasoned breadcrumbs, and Panko breadcrumbs are all used to create the crispy, flavorful breading for this shrimp!
VARIATIONS For a spicier version, use cajun seasoning instead of (or even along with) lemon pepper. Or, use taco seasoning in shrimp tacos!

I was looking for a simple shrimp recipe for New Year’s Eve that would satisfy my craving for fried shrimp. This was so easy and so tasty and quick in the air fryer. The shrimp were juicy and the spices were perfect. The coating was crunchy and I made a quick dipping sauce of mayo and pickle relish that more than satisfied my craving. As others have commented, this is a shrimp recipe that is good enough to have on a regular basis – and healthy and much less mess and clean up from the oil fried version. Most importantly, it delivers and you won’t miss oil fried shrimp because this is one tasty fried shrimp dish.
did not see the cocktail
sauce recipe ?
Cocktail sauce is just an optional addition to serve with the air fryer shrimp. Enjoy!
Will this work with frozen shrimp?
Yes! If using frozen just make sure they’re thawed and drained (and dabbed dry so the coating will stick)!
Looks wonderful! What is the recipe for the pink dip you show in the picture?
Absolutely love all of your recipes. Thank you!!
Thank you so much Joan, I’m glad you have loved the recipes! That’s my chipotle aioli. Enjoy!
Why are there 2 different types of bread crumbs listed? Can Seasoned bread crumbs be used without added the Panko bread crumbs?
Seasoned breadcrumbs are a bit of a finer texture, so they coat more evenly and have more flavor, Panko has a larger crumb for extra crunch. You can use just one or the other if you’d like.
We loved the recipe, it was awesome . I doubled the recipe for the family size. I added a salad with the meal.
Thanks for the feedback Shelly, we will look into it :) So happy you loved the recipe though!
Delicious! Jumbo shrimp take a couple minutes longer. I did not have seasoned breadcrumbs so I used seasoned salt. My husband wants this on our menu rotation from now on!
I am new to your site and have found many recipes I like. I like the information you provide and how it’s presented. I am saving many. I am new to air frying too and appreciate your collection in that category.
One thing you DON’T have that I wish you DID HAVE is an “ADD TO HOME SCREEN” option included in the drop down menu. Yes, I save to Pinterest but I have begun creating files on my home screen in food categories for recipes I will be or plan to be using frequently. Or, at least, peruseing frequently for choosing. The same recipes I will also put into Pinterest so others may also find them but for my fast search my desktop screen is better and easier for me. As I plan to visit your site often would you please add this option? I know it’s a bit to ask for just one person but many I’ve shared this idea with in my various recipe clubs or just with friends and family have adopted the idea as well. We find there is just too much good stuff online to save and our Pinterest pages are overflowing with that goodness making it a lengthy process to find things we use frequently. Desktop files really speed up that process. (But always save to Pinterest as well for sharing AND in case anything happens to your phone! Better safe than sorry.) Thanks for considering this. One step once on your part will be very helpful each time I (or my like minded friends) want to save a recipe we plan to put into rotation or have easily at our fingertips.
Thanks for your great posts and recipes too. I will definitely be sharing your site by direct referral. That, too, is something I instigated with my recipe clubs. We now have a page anyone can add a site to with a description of what and why they thought it worthy to add to the list.
Hi Debby, So happy you are enjoying our recipe! The Air Fryer is such a great kitchen tool once you get the hang of it. As for the save feature do you have an iPhone? This is actually a feature provided through Apple. Once you are on our website (on your phone) there is a share icon in the center bottom bar on the screen. From there you should be able to scroll down select “Add to Home Screen”. I hope that helps!
the flour always come off when you dip it in the egg mixture. any tips?
Hi Sonya, some will but to help it adhere to the shrimp you can lightly press the flour into the shrimp before dipping it in the egg mixture. Then be sure to lightly press the Panko mixture into the shrimp as well.
Wow the shrimp is tender and tasty. My hubby said that they were so good that he forgot how much he loved shrimp. I will definitely make this recipe again.
That’s awesome Colleen, so happy that hear how much you love this shrimp recipe!
Do you think this would work with pre-cooked thawed shrimp? Thanks!!
I haven’t tried it with cooked shrimp Kellie. I’d worry the shrimp would overcook. Let us know if you try it!
Shrimp were delicious. Thanks!
You’re welcome Diana!
What temperature
We cook the shrimp at 400°F for 5 minutes in this recipe.
These are crispy and delicious! Added Old Bay to the seasoning.
