Simple All Beef Patty Ingredients

  • Beef: Just like our favorite hamburger recipe, we like to use an 80/20 blend for the right amount of fat to keep the patties juicy without too much grease runoff. For a lighter option, try ground turkey for turkey burgers.
  • Seasoning: Add in salt & pepper with a dash of onion and garlic powder. Fresh onion and garlic don’t have enough time to cook, so we opt for powders in this recipe. Or try our signature hamburger seasoning!
  • BBQ sauce (optional): Helps with caramelization and tastes great. I love this homemade barbecue sauce, but any store brand works, too!

Toppings

Make a DIY burger bar by arranging lettuce, onions, tomatoes, and pickles on a serving platter so everyone can help themselves!

How To Air Fry Hamburgers

  1. Combine all of the ingredients and form into 4 equally sized patties.
  2. Place prepared hamburger patties in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Cook until they reach 160°F (full recipe below).
  3. Top with cheese if desired, cook 1 more minute before serving.

Tips for Perfect Hamburger Patties

  • Don’t Overcook: Use a meat thermometer to ensure the thickest part of a patty reaches 160°F.
  • Check Early: Appliances can vary, so check your burgers early to ensure they don’t overcook.
  • Make Ahead: Uncooked burger patties can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 days or frozen for up to a month. Place parchment paper between each patty to keep them from freezing together.
  • Cook from Frozen: Frozen burger patties can be cooked in the air fryer, but you’ll need to add about 5 to 7 minutes, depending on thickness.

IMPORTANT: Cook time can vary based on the appliance and the thickness of the burger. Use a meat thermometer to check the thickest part of a patty (160°F).
  • Ensure you use meat with a little bit of fat (80/20) so the burgers stay moist.
  • Air Fryers can vary, so check your burgers early to ensure they don’t overcook. If your burgers are thicker, add more time.
  • These were tested in a Cosori 5.8QT Air Fryer
  • Frozen burger patties can be cooked in the air fryer. They’ll need to add about 5 to 7 minutes, depending on thickness. Use a meat thermometer to ensure doneness.

  1. These hamburgers are great! I don’t like to cook hamburgers indoors on the stove because of the mess, so I tried your air fryer recipe. So good – and no messy cleanup! My air fryer doesn’t have a 370 setting so I cooked them at 375 for 12 minutes, flipping them once and they turned out perfect. Also, the first time I made them the cheese flew off during the last minute of cooking, so I just put the cheese on after they are cooked and leave the burgers in the fryer and the cheese melts just fine. Thanks for your great recipes!!5 stars

  2. ok so it seems like there are so many people who either don’t know how to read or something because it clearly says to preheat the air fryer to 370°. You just need to scroll down and read it. also the times are going to be different for everyone depending on the machine you are using. also not everyone likes their meat cooked well done so that 160 is just a suggestion. Cook it how you want it. use a thermometer. Don’t be scared. a blue rare burger will take no more than 5 min tops. seared with a cool red center so the times will depend on how you want it cooked. remember a recipe is just a canvas. You don’t have to follow recipes to the T. Just experiment use it as a guide but in the end you are the one cooking it and eating it.

Blue rare: 115° to 120° (cold red center)

Rare: 125° to 130° (slightly cool center)

    Medium-rare: 130° to 140° (slightly firm)

Medium: 140° to 150° (firm and springy)

    Medium-well: 150° to 155° (slightly pink)

    Well-done:160° (fully brown center)

  3. I know you said air fryer cooking time depends on type, but I had to cook these for well over double the recommended time to cook these. They were completely raw using the times given in the recipe. Will just use the grill next time.1 star

    1. If you had to cook these longer than double the time at 370°F, (which would be at least 22 minutes), I think there might be an issue with your air fryer and I would recommend double checking the temperature on it before cooking other meats. A ½-inch beef patty should cook in about 10 to 12 minutes.

  4. It’s Labor Day 2023. Thank you for the excellent air fried hamburger tips. Happy Labor Day !!! Hope you enjoyed your hamburgers as much as we did . Again… thank you5 stars

  5. How do i get rare burgers? these recipes look like they’re for well done or medium-ish.
also I only do one at a time. Can you help me?

    1. For a rare burger, you will want to cook to 120°F to 125°F internally. I recommend using a meat thermometer. It should only take a few minutes so I would begin checking early. I hope this helps!

  6. Cooked 3 burgers 92% lean 4 1/2” diameter 3/4” in thick.
Set fryer to 375 and 11 minutes cooking flipped after 6 minutes. Burgers were medium rare.
Used a Ninja Foodie Smart XL 4qt.

  7. There is nothing on here that says what the temperature needs to be at for the hamburgers to cook. Maybe put that on there.

    1. Hi Jordyn, you can find this in step 3 of the recipe.

      3. Preheat the air fryer to 370°F. Add patties in a single layer to the basket.

  8. They were delicious. My family loved them. The ingredients were so simple, but the combination was delicious.5 stars

  9. I made these for dinner tonight. We really like the addition of the BBQ sauce. Even though I used 92% lean ground beef, they still turned out juicy. Next time, I may try a couple dashes of Worcestershire sauce, as another reviewer suggested. Great recipe!5 stars

    1. You can find this information in step 3: Preheat the air fryer to 370°F. I hope this helps!

  10. Hi, Can you please let me know what brand/model air fryer you are using? It looks like a bigger one, is it 8qt? Thank you!

  11. I made these burgers tonight with the exception of bbq sauce (we didn’t have any) so I added about 5 splashes of Worcestershire sauce into the meat mixture instead. They were delicious and juicy. I’m barely learning how to do temperature conversions for air frying, so this recipe helped me tremendously.5 stars

  12. Make mine this way and never had a problem. Fix my fries with your air fryer recipe, too, Holly…my favorite way to fix both! Quick and easy peasy.

I am totally in love with my air fryer and use it for everything I can. My stove is collecting dust. 5 stars
