Simple All Beef Patty Ingredients

  • Beef: Just like our favorite hamburger recipe, we like to use an 80/20 blend for the right amount of fat to keep the patties juicy without too much grease runoff. For a lighter option, try ground turkey for turkey burgers.
  • Seasoning: Add in salt & pepper with a dash of onion and garlic powder. Fresh onion and garlic don’t have enough time to cook, so we opt for powders in this recipe. Or try our signature hamburger seasoning!
  • BBQ sauce (optional): Helps with caramelization and tastes great. I love this homemade barbecue sauce, but any store brand works, too!

Toppings

Make a DIY burger bar by arranging lettuce, onions, tomatoes, and pickles on a serving platter so everyone can help themselves!

How To Air Fry Hamburgers

  1. Combine all of the ingredients and form into 4 equally sized patties.
  2. Place prepared hamburger patties in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Cook until they reach 160°F (full recipe below).
  3. Top with cheese if desired, cook 1 more minute before serving.

Tips for Perfect Hamburger Patties

  • Don’t Overcook: Use a meat thermometer to ensure the thickest part of a patty reaches 160°F.
  • Check Early: Appliances can vary, so check your burgers early to ensure they don’t overcook.
  • Make Ahead: Uncooked burger patties can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 days or frozen for up to a month. Place parchment paper between each patty to keep them from freezing together.
  • Cook from Frozen: Frozen burger patties can be cooked in the air fryer, but you’ll need to add about 5 to 7 minutes, depending on thickness.

  1. I used grocery prepared patties with cheese and mushrooms. The patties were at least 3/4 in thick-maybe more. I cooked two at 375 for 8 minutes and they were well done. SO, I would decrease the amount of time cooked.

That said, I LOVE the air fryer and use it almost daily, so thankful for those that take the time to post recipes and give us the benefit of your experience and expertise.

    Thanks!4 stars

  2. I read the reviews and thought I’d try making an air fryer hamburger especially since I am having trouble getting around the kitchen due to an injury. The mistake I made was buying a higher fat content hamburger (30%). After reading reviews I decided to make some alterations. I preheated and then cooked the hamburger (no bbq sauce) at 390 for about 10-11 minutes until both sides had a slight sear and the inside was medium well. I also used the cooking insert that came with the air fryer which gives it a little elevation plus the fat falls down to the bottom of the air fryer drawer. Also, I cut up some onions and mushrooms and let them cook in the natural hamburger’s juices at the bottom of the drawer about 1/2 through cooking. Sooooooo good!5 stars

    1. So happy you enjoyed them, Layla! Your alterations sound great, thanks for sharing them.

      1. These were delicious and moist! Will be my go to recipe for homemade burgers in future!

  3. These were great. I’m one of those people that doesn’t read through a recipe very well :) I mixed the bbq sauce into the meat with the spices. I realized my mistake after the fact. But, it was DELICIOUS!5 stars

  4. I liked the recipe. I added seasoning salt for my own taste. I also broiled for 1 minute since my air fryer had that feature, for more crisp.5 stars

  5. This was a great recipe I added paprika and Italian seasoning.
Then instead of cheese, I served them on leftover, Texas garlic cheese toast!
Very nice hint on the thumb depression in the middle of the paddy’s!!!4 stars

  6. Great recipe! I was a bit nervous making them in my air fryer, but they turned out great! So quick and no grease popping on me. Lol5 stars

  7. I made these for lunch and they were perfect. I added some cheddar cheese and diced jalapeños to the meat mixture before cooking and they were absolutely perfect. Thank you for sharing this recipe.5 stars

  8. Just made these and they were delicious! Added a little more time because my husband is a “well done” guy. And guess what we used cheese…yummy temperature worked good for ours.5 stars

    1. I’m sorry to hear that. Did you use lean ground beef (80/20)? If using ground beef with a higher fat content it can end up soupier. These burgers won’t have a pan-fried sear to the outsides but an air-fried crispy exterior instead. Hope that helps!

  9. Hamburgers and Cheeseburgers are not the same thing. Stop using the names interchangeably. Cheeseburgers are nasty because they have disgusting cheese on them. Everyone who loves such a horrible thing should not assume that everyone loves whatever they love. Cheese is the most vile and most disgusting “food” ever created by man. Any burger or sandwich with cheese is completely ruined. Millions of people actually despise cheese and most of those not lactose intolerant.

    1. There is no cheese in the recipe, this calls for “toppings as desired”. I love cheese so I added it but you can certainly leave it off! Enjoy the recipe!

      1. All hamburgers start out well intentioned. Burgers start out with ground beef. I guess some where down the line the hamburger was perverted into a “Cheese Burger”. I hope this gives you some hope and closure Namaste!
How do you feel about sliders now they are gross…‍♀️

    2. Wow Mitch, not sure why you are so repulsed by cheese but real cheese is actually very good. Not if you’re talking about processed cheese i can certainly relate. There is a big difference in the two. I’ll be praying for you as you sound as if you certainly need it !

      1. And recent research indicates that certain cheeses are very health promoting. That’s good news for those who enjoy one of mankinds’s long loved artisan foods, which has been made for 5,000 years. In 2018, archeologists from Cairo University and the University of Catania reported the discovery of the oldest known cheese from Egypt. Discovered in the Saqqara necropolis, it is around 3200 years old. I’m imagining them using Mutton slices placed on bread and dipped into the cheese, and thinking this is surely is the first cheeseburger ever!

Now Mitch, I’ve told you ten million times not to exaggerate! :-)

      1. LOL that was the best comment Shelley, made me LOL. Some people have nothing better to do than troll recipe posts and be rude!

    3. You must be one miserable human being to post a comment like this. So you don’t like cheese? Ok! No one is forcing you to add cheese to your hamburger. This recipe clearly states that adding cheese is optional. Pathetic.

    4. Oh Mitch…. why the hate? Make your hamburgers the way you want. Each to their own.
If “millions” supposedly despise cheese, as you claim, that still leaves a few BILLION that love it.
I put DOUBLE cheese on mine. How do you like that?!?!

Thanks for the recipe, Holly. I appreciate your time.

    5. Jeez, you can easily go your entire life without eating cheese without being so bitter over it, lol.

      Calm down!5 stars

  10. Air Fryer Hamburgers are a quick and easy way to make burgers. Air Fryer Hamburgers are perfect for people who don’t have time to cook, but still want a quick meal. They’re also great for people with dietary restrictions because you can customize the ingredients to your liking.

You can use any type of buns you prefer – gluten-free, vegan, or even cheeseburger buns! Whatever style burger bun you enjoy is now an option!

    1. I made this recipe in the air fryer! Fab! I used the idea of two cheeses, one sharp cheddar the other jack, and the sharpness was nicely mellowed, thanks for the commenter earlier who shared that. Air fryer makes them quickly and perfectly. Then set cheese on and leave for a minute in hot air fryer but done cooking – perfect melt. Oh and I add the pickles on top of the cheese so they warm up too. Love them that way, although I also like them cool-crisp… such a nice problem to have in life – should I warm the pickles or have them cold!

  11. Oh my, probably the best, juiciest hamburgers i’ve ever had. I did about 8 min on each side for medium well, other than that I didn’t change a thing!

  12. ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS RECIPE!! Made it after working all night on 12hr shift. Super easy and fast. Incredibly delicious. Used Air Fryer XL and done from start to finish in 15mins5 stars

    1. That is awesome Cynthia! A yummy, easy recipe is exactly what you need after a long day at work! So glad this recipe worked out well for you :)
