  1. Hello,
I’ve recently found your site through a friend and have started to make some soups. You’ve made it so simple and I’m excited to keep trying something new. The grocery store packaged herbs have an expiry of about 2 years so would it be safe to say that when I purchase what I need for this Italian seasoning mix the expiry of these herbs would be much less once opened and how would I know if they are old? I have a few in my cupboard that I can’t remember for how long. Thank you in advance for your reply.

    1. I am so glad you are enjoying the recipes Cheryl! This will stay perfectly fresh for 6 months if stored in a dark cupboard or drawer and in an airtight container. Longer than that and they start to become less flavorful.

  2. Giving this a try, to finally do something with my garden herbs before winter gets them. Didn’t really measure anything, but it smells and tastes about right. I put everything in a coffee grinder and then into saved little gift jam jars. So let’s see if they become little gift herb jars!

  3. great! minus the red chili flakes for my taste. Added a little more garlic. Used my own herbs dried from my herb garden.4 stars

  4. Fantastic recipe. Couldn’t buy at supermarket and have just made a wonderful jar of Italian seasoning with ingredients I had. Thank you!!

  5. Hi, I just made the Italian seasoning but didn’t know whether to put in the hot pepper seeds, I don’t want it to be hot and spicy so should I add it

    1. Hi Sandy, the red pepper flakes do add some heat to this seasoning. I personally don’t find it spicy but I would use it sparingly if you are sensitive to spice. It is always better to start with less and add more if needed. :)

  6. Favorite air fryer veggie recipe! The seasoning is amazing, and the veggies are cooked to perfection. I have also added yellow squash, and subbed yellow and orange peppers. The combinations are endless. Flavorful and delish!5 stars

  7. Spot on! I used dried herbs from my garden on a homemade pizza. The herbs really shined through. Thank you for posting!5 stars

  8. Absolutely delicious! And no salt! I’ve made this in bulk 3 times & won’t make Italian food without it.5 stars

  9. This is a better Italian seasoning recipe than anything else I’ve bought in-store or seen from another cook. Thanks!5 stars

  10. I was faced with suddenly no Italian seasoning mid way through cooking dinner. Found your Italian blend and oh my goodness, this is by far the best o have ever tasted. Thank you for sharing your talents Holly. This season is amazing and I cannot wait to try additional flavors you are creating. Thank you!!!!!

  11. Seasoning is your standard fare Italian seasoning. I would recommend adding another half teaspoon of garlic, a half tablespoon of dried lemon zest, and a half teaspoon of white pepper to give this some kick.4 stars

  12. Remember Mrs. Dash no-salt seasoning? I always thought it had all the flavor of ground up cardboard. This Italian seasoning is an excellent no-salt seasoning, as well as seasoning for lasagne, spaghetti, etc. My Costa Rican housemates love it, especially on scrambled eggs.

  13. at this point no comment glad to get the homemade seasonings recipes for i do grow
herbs so this gives me a good idea of what herbs to use together..
    thank you

  14. Love your mixes! My spice shelf would be BARE if not for your easy, delicious, inexpensive spice blends. You’re like a kitchen lifeguard; saving the day, over and over again!5 stars

    1. I am anxious to try this recipe! What would the equivalent be if a recipe called for a package of Italian dressing mix?

      1. This Italian seasoning is a little different than Italian Dressing Mix, but you could use about 2 Tablespoons in place of it.
