Garlic Cheddar Biscuits are the perfect side to any meal from spaghetti to fried chicken. As much as I love a good biscuit, adding cheese and garlic takes these from regular ol’ biscuits into crazy good garlic cheese bombs, a side that will truly be the star of your meal!
Biscuits are a staple around here, perfect for breakfast with jam and delicious with butter served with soup or stew.
As much as I love a good sweet biscuit drizzled with honey and butter… these cheesy cheddar biscuits definitely take the cake.
A light and flaky biscuit crust stuffed with… you guessed it, cheddar cheese and rolled in a buttery garlic topping. The result is the ultimate cheese buns! My kids call these garlic cheese bombs because they’re really just an explosion of deliciousness… and cheese.
They are small enough to serve as an appetizer but they also are PERFECT served alongside any meal!
If you happen to have any leftover, the kids will love taking them for lunch! There are lots of versions of cheese biscuits out there… this is definitely my favorite! Tender crust, and ooey gooey cheese filling and a delicious garlic parmesan topping, these are the ultimate garlic cheese bombs!
While I use canned biscuits to make this extra quick, you can certainly wrap the cheese in a Homemade Biscuit Dough with equally wonderful results.
When making these biscuits, you’re going to want to work quickly so your dough stays fairly chilled and ensure you pinch the seams very well to seal. If some of the cheese happens to leak out, don’t worry… there will still be more inside and they’ll still taste amazing!! I bake them on parchment paper for easy clean up.
Speaking of biscuits, I am somewhat addicted to wrapping things in biscuit dough! They are always amazing and you can pretty much put anything in them from sweet to savory!
Stuffed BISCUITS are one of my favorite snacks and the possibilities are endless! Check out some of these other yummy stuffed biscuits:
- Bacon Cheeseburger Bombs (reader favorite!) Soft biscuits stuffed with cheese, bacon and the most delicious beef filling you have ever had!
- Cheddar Meatball Poppers Juicy meatballs and cheddar cheese wrapped in a soft biscuit crust.
- Loaded Mashed Potato Bombs It’s like a stuffed baked potato wrapped, filled with cheese and wrapped in a delicious hand held bite.
- Pizza Bombs Soft crust, pepperoni and your favorite pizza toppings loaded with cheese all wrapped in a biscuit crust.
- Cinnamon Caramel Apple Pie Roll Ups Roll ups of the dessert kind with cinnamon, apples and a hint of caramel. The perfect ending to any meal!
Really… the possibilities are endless! I’ve stuffed them with chicken pot pie filling, taco meat, cream cheese and pie filling and so much more!
Garlic Cheddar Biscuits (Garlic Cheese Bombs)
Ingredients
- 1 can of premade biscuits (10 pieces) (any type will work, I used Country Style)
- 20 cubes cheddar cheese (½" x ¾" x ¾") (approx 4oz total)
- 3 tablespoons butter
- 1 clove garlic crushed
- ⅓ cup parmesan cheese
- 2 teaspoons dried parsley
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F.
- Cut each biscuit in half and slightly roll out (don't worry about it being round). Place a cheese cube in the middle and wrap the biscuit dough around the cube ensuring the edges are sealed. Roll in your hands to make a ball shape.
- Place butter & garlic in a small bowl and melt in the microwave about 12 seconds. In a separate bowl, combine parsley and parmesan cheese.
- Dip each rolled biscuit into the butter mixture and then into the cheese mixture. Place on a parchment lined pan.
- Bake 10-12 minutes or just until browned.

How do I keep the cheese from coming out?
If you’re sure to seal the bottom of the rolls the cheese should stay in.
Hello I want to make these. But I live in an area where there are no available biscuit dough. Any suggestions? Thanks very much.
Depending on where you are you could try using a savory scone dough. I’d love to hear how it works for you!
you can make your own quickly.. add two cups self rising flour to a bowl about a haf tsp of salt. couple drops or a splash of vanilla and a 1/2 tsp of baking powder. add a stick of butter and a 1/2 cup of buttermilk. generous dallop of shortening (just about a tbsp.} mix dry ingredient . fold in shortening and butter. vanilla and stir slowly add buttermilk to make a sticky batter. fold several times then dump out on a floured surface and knead for a minute adding just enough flour to keep it from sticking to your hands and fold all of it a couple times{ dont overwork it.. {or they will be heavy and flat.) {if you freeze the butter and shred it while frozen it makes em lighter and fluffier.) this makes about a dozen coffee cup sized biscuits.. or two dozen of those cheese bombs. You can add a little seasoning to em in the dry mix if you like. pepper or garlic. etc..i’ve tried all kinds of stuff and i can tell you what doesnt work very well. nothing with salt or they dry out and taste funky..I.E. tony chacharies or seasoned salt, garlic salt etc….garlic is nice in em as is a little basil and oregeno if you are gonna garlic em and serve with pasta or just for breakfast.. i use the same recipe for dumplings. works pretty good. especially if dough has extra flavor. use a little less buttermilk and add a little chicken stock to make em a little tastyer. just a little dab will do ya…..{can you tell im hungry while typing this?} lol but the basic recipe is simple and makes delicious biscuits
Thank you for sharing Darren! Sounds great!
Is the parmesean the powdered kind or fresh?
You can use either. I used the powdered kind as it was what I had on hand.
For anyone not living in the US or some parts of Canada. ie. living in the world. “Biscuit dough” is quick bread dough or scone dough.
Hi we don’t have either of those here in the Philippines. Any other recipe from scratch?
Made these with Christmas dinner this year and featured the recipe on my blog where I write about trying out ideas I find on Pinterest.
Very nice appetizer.
This recipe is just amazing! We cannot find premade biscuits in the Netherlands (or in the supermarket where I usually shop) so I replaced it with pizza dough and it worked just perfect. You have a great website and thank you for the inspiration!
Do you know if these can be made ahead of time and then frozen?
I haven’t tried freezing these so I can’t say for sure.
This is a keeper! Can’t wait to try it when things cool off a little this summer. Loved the previous suggestion about the jalapeno addition.
I love this :) I had to do these when I was yonger for school :)
We don’t have premade biscuits in Australia, what’s a good alternative?
Wow, these are so yummy!! And so easy to make
I live in Africa, so no canned biscuits available to me. I just made my own quick biscuit recipe (2 c. flour, 2 tsp. baking powder, 1 tsp. salt, then stir in 1 c. milk, 2 TB oil) and it worked like a charm. Yummy! Thanks for the recipe!
Yum! Thanks for sharing Rebecca!
Yum! im australian so i didnt know where to get biscuit dough so i made a simple no yeast pizza dough instead. So delicious!!!!!
I’m so glad it worked out for you! :)
I I’m in the UK, we don’t really have biscuit mix – what is the closest substitute that can be used
It’s similar to a scone.
Well if that isn’t cheese perfection then I don’t know what is.
These look so good! I love that you made them with biscuit dough.
My kids would be so excited to find the leftovers of these in their lunch boxes. These would be perfect for an appetizer party!
hi… these look delicious!! wanna try making them soon!……..whats premade biscuits?
instead of parmesan cheese, is thr a substitute?
Premade biscuits are found in the refrigerator section in most North American grocery stores (they are similar to an Austrialian scone). You could try any type of cheese with these!
These look awesome!
