How to Cook Tilapia
Baking tilapia is so simple; it cooks quickly and needs very little preparation.
Wash and pat dry the fillets, brush with melted butter and a squeeze of lemon. Place on a parchment lined or sprayed pan.
Combine the topping ingredients and distribute evenly over the fillets and bake! That’s it!
It will cook quickly, leaving just enough time to put together a simple Cucumber Dill Salad! Add on a whole wheat roll and you have a complete, balanced and delicious meal in minutes!
Tender and delicious oven baked tilapia is the answer to dinner time humdrum and one you’re definitely going to want to add to your menu plan! Tilapia or cod, with it’s mild, delicate flavor is an easy type of fish to serve.
The panko topping provides just the right amount of crunch and your taste buds will love the zesty lemon and tangy parmesan!

Easy Baked Tilapia (or Cod)
Ingredients
- 4 filets white fish such as cod or tilapia
- ½ lemon
- 1 ½ tablespoons melted butter
Topping
- ¼ cup panko bread crumbs
- 2 tablespoons fresh parmesan cheese
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon paprika
- 1 tablespoon parsley
- 1 teaspoon butter melted
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F.
- Combine topping ingredients in a small bowl.
- Rinse tilapia filets, pat dry and place on a pan sprayed with cooking spray.
- Drizzle with butter. Squeeze lemon juice over the filets.
- Top with the Panko mixture.
- Cook 15 minutes or just until cooked through and fish is flaky.
- Broil for the last minute if desired

I never leave recipe reviews but have to for this one. I’m in college and make this recipe at least 3 times a week, it’s delicious every time. I don’t even use the panko and go with Parmesan and spices only and it’s still great. Super simple, quick and affordable – thanks for posting!
