The Easiest Party Dip

This dill pickle dip recipe is my oldest daughter’s favorite snack, and with just a few simple ingredients, I am sure it will become yours, too!

  • Flavor: Rich, creamy, and packed with bold dill pickle flavor.
  • Skill Level: This recipe is practically fool-proof! Just chop, mix, and chill.
  • Time-Saving Tip: Make quick work of the prep with my fave chopper. Use the small chopping plate or dice the pickles very finely for the best pickle flavor in every bite.
  • Prep Note: This dip gets better with time, so chill it at least 30 minutes ahead, or up to 2 days ahead. This gives the flavors more time to develop.
  • Serving Suggestions: Dill pickle dip is a veggie lover’s go-to with fresh cucumbers, carrots, and celery. It is also delicious with pretzels, crackers, and chips!

4 Ingredients, Big Flavor

  • Cream Cheese: Use a block of full-fat cream cheese for the best results. Spreadable cream cheese will work, but the dip may not be as thick.
  • Pickles: Crunchy dill pickles (not sweet) give the best crunch. Use your favorite brand and flavor of dill pickles. Just finely chop them to ensure pickles in every bite!
  • Pickle Juice: Pickle juice softens the dip a little and adds a punch of tangy flavor. Be sure to include a little of the garlicky bits and spices as they add extra flavor.
  • Dill: Fresh dill gives the brightest flavor, but can be swapped for 1 teaspoon of dried dill if fresh isn’t available.

Variations & Quick Tips

  • Add-Ins: Add garlic powder, cheddar cheese, or a sprinkle of bacon bits on top.
  • Ways to Use: Dill pickle dip is an amazing spread on salmon burgers or sandwiches. Or serve it as a dip for potato chips, pita chips, fresh veggies, or zucchini rounds.

How to Make Dill Pickle Dip

  1. Whip cream cheese until smooth, and slowly mix in the pickle juice.
  2. Fold in finely chopped pickles and dill.
  3. Chill before serving.

Holly’s Dip Tips That Work

  • Softening the cream cheese helps prevent lumps, while the mixer makes the dip extra smooth.
  • Slowly add the pickle juice to reach your desired consistency. I like it thicker for crackers and chips, but thinner for veggies.
    • Too Thin: Stir in a spoonful of cream cheese and chill. It will thicken as it chills.
    • Too Thick: Add another splash of pickle juice until it reaches your desired consistency.
  • If the dip gets watery after sitting, give it a good stir to reincorporate all the ingredients.
  • Keep the dip chilled while serving by setting the bowl over ice.

Ingredients

  • 8 ounces cream cheese softened
  • ¼ cup dill pickle juice
  • ¼ cup chopped dill pickles
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh dill

Instructions

  • In a medium bowl with a hand mixer, mix cream cheese until smooth.
  • Gradually add pickle juice to the cream cheese, mixing well after each addition.
  • Stir in chopped pickles and fresh dill.
  • Refrigerate the dip for at least 30 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • Consistency: Adjust the pickle juice to reach the desired consistency. The dip will thicken slightly as it chills in the fridge.
  • Pickle Juice: When scooping pickle juice from the container, try to add any of the spices and garlicky bits in the juice, they’re a great addition to the dip.
  • Dill: Fresh dill adds great flavor but you can substitute 1 teaspoon of dried dill weed.
This recipe makes 1.5 cups of dip. Nutrition based on a serving size of 2 tablespoons. Store leftover dip in the fridge for up to 10 days.
