Taco Dip is the perfect snack for game day, a quick party appetizer or to serve to unexpected guests last minute. This easy no bake dip recipe starts with a creamy layer flavored with my favorite taco seasoning. We add all of our favorite toppings including lettuce, tomatoes and cheese (I also love olives and jalapenos).
Perfect for dipping tortillas, crackers or veggies.
The Easiest Dip
It’s official, I’ve found the world’s easiest and yummiest dip recipe… Taco Dip! Taco dip is the perfect snack to make for game day, dinner parties, potlucks, Mexican night, you name it!
This dip is very similar to a 7 layer dip, because it is layered with so much mouth-watering goodness but much quicker and simpler to make. Not only is this recipe incredibly fast to make, everyone absolutely gobbles it up (and requests the recipe).
The creamy layer is a mixture of cream cheese, sour cream and taco seasoning and it’s all topped off with our favorite fixings. This is a no meat taco dip and instead of store bought packets, I prefer to use homemade taco seasoning, because it has way more flavor (and less salt).
We most often serve this with tortilla chips, but you can serve it with pita bread, crackers, or even fresh vegetables!
Pro Dip Tip
Layers in cold dips that contain cream cheese can often become quite firm if chilled.
This can make your dips very difficult to scoop (and results in broken chips 😥)!
To make sure your cream cheese is perfectly dippable, scoopable and delicious, I always beat the cream cheese with a mixer until light and fluffy. Of course, you can just mix it with a spoon but using a mixer ensures a soft and fluffy dip every time!
This works perfectly with both cold dips (like Bacon Cheddar Dip) or hot dips like our favorite Jalapeno Popper Dip.
Layered taco dip is so easy that even someone who is new to the kitchen can pull this one off!
How Do I Make Taco Dip?
When making this cold taco dip, you’ll want to ensure you use a hand mixer to make the cream cheese layer soft enough to be scooped up effortlessly.
Because this recipe is a dip and doesn’t need to “set up” or hold its shape, you’re fine to use reduced fat products if you prefer.
What Goes in Taco Dip?
The great thing about this recipe is that there is only one creamy layer to add, then it is topped with ingredients that can be sprinkled.
You can use any toppings you add to your favorite taco recipe (even refried beans, Homemade Salsa or guacamole if you’d like).
Taco Topping Ideas:
- Shredded Lettuce (iceberg)
- Tomatoes
- Cheese (pre-shredded to make it fast)
- Green Onions
- Olives
- Jalapenos
- Avocado
- Black Beans
You can even turn this into a beefy taco dip by adding lean ground beef taco meat on top of the creamy layer.
Taco dip is prepared in one dish in about 5 minutes. Crazy easy right?!
This dip can be prepared in the fridge hours ahead of time making it the perfect portable dish to bring to a potluck or dinner party if you are not hosting!
