No-bake, no fuss… Millionaire Pie is simple to make and the best part is that it tastes delicious! There’s a very good reason this is one of the top recipes of all time on my blog!
We’ve served ambrosia salad at every holiday meal for as long as I can remember. It’s such a great side and as a kid I always felt like I was having dessert with my dinner. This pie has a similar flavor so if you like ambrosia salad, you’ll love this pie (plus pretty much anything with sweetened condensed milk has to be amazing right?!)!

This pie starts out with a base of sweetened condensed milk mixed with lemon juice (which causes it to thicken). Once thickened, all of the yummy add-ins are mixed in including cherries, pineapple, coconut, and pecans. It’s all poured into a graham crust and put in the fridge to set.
That’s it, no baking, no stove… just easy-peasy stir and pour!

You’ll want to make sure you squeeze out your pineapple as much as you can just to make sure your pie sets up well. If you don’t have a store-bought graham crust, of course, this works with a homemade graham cracker crust.
Note: If you do adapt this recipe to your tastes, do not leave out the lemon juice. The addition of lemon juice thickens the pie and if you skip it your pie will be runny.

Ingredients
- 1 graham cracker crust
- 1 cup sweetened coconut flakes
- 15.25 ounces crushed pineapple well drained, 1 can
- 1 cup maraschino cherries drained & chopped
- ½ cup chopped pecans
- 1 can sweetened condensed milk 14 oz
- 5 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon maraschino cherry juice
- 1 ½ cups whipped topping plus extra for garnish if desired
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine coconut, crushed pineapple, maraschino cherries, pecans, (Eagle Brand) Sweetened Condensed Milk, lemon juice and maraschino cherry juice.
- Gently fold in whipped topping. Pour into crust.
- Top with additional whipped topping and cherries if desired. Refrigerate 3 hours or overnight.

can you use peaches in the million dollar pie instead of pineapple
I have only tried this recipe as written, but if you try it with peaches let me know how it turns out!
These recipes sound delicious, I can’t wait to try them on my family. Thank you for sharing them. Barb
You’re welcome Barb! Your family will love them! :)
Mine didn’t set unfortunately. I made sure to drain the pineapple well and followed the directions exactly except I left out the coconut. Such a pity because it did taste good but too runny :(
Oh no Mel, how disappointing. Did you add the full amount of lemon juice? Did you mix the lemon juice and condensed milk until it thickened as shown in the video?
Unfortunately it does not say anything about that in the recipe directions. It just says to combine all of the ingredients except the whipped topping in a large bowl. One cannot be expected to be viewing the video while they are making the dish.
Actually it does, in the notes.
It doesn’t say in the notes to mix lemon juice and milk until it thickens.
I am allergic to walnuts and pecans. I wonder how almonds would be in this? Any other suggestion for pecan substitute?
I have only tried this recipe as written, but almonds sound like they would be delicious. I would suggest using slivered almonds as they’re crunchier. Let me know how it turns out!
Love this pie
Thanks Barbara!
I loved this pie. And all my guests at Thanksgiving had a fit over it. It brought back sweet memories for some. I ended up with enough to fill a 9 inch pie and a nice bowl. Thanks for this great treat. I’m making it for Christmas too! Happy Holidays to you and yours.
I am so glad you guys loved it Cindy! It’s always a hit around here too. Happy Holidays!
What size graham cracker crust did you use?
My crust was 9″.
This is so easy and very good, but way sweet..but I will say, I used unsweetened organic coconut and wow I can’t Imagine how sweet it would be with sweetened coconut.
This is a golden oldie recipe. This was served as dessert at my wedding rehearsal dinner 45 years ago. Tasty then and now!
Thank you for sharing that great memory Peg!
This recipe sounds interesting, it gave me an idea to create my own version only I have a Banana Split in mind.
So I’m thinking of omitting the coconut, reducing the pineapple, adding sliced strawberries (strained before adding) along with banana slices. Poured into the crust and covered with whipped cream, drizzle of chocolate fudge, sprinkled with chopped peanuts and then topping it with the maraschino cherry’s. I’m not a fan of ambrosia but I do love banana splits. Sorry can’t rate what I haven’t tried.
Sounds like a fun pie recipe Steve!
My husband does not like coconut, is there something else I can use instead
You could leave the coconut out and replace a portion of it with extra nuts (or even slivered almonds). Other readers have replaced coconut with mini marshmallows. I haven’t tried it though.
Can bananas be substituted for the coconut?
Bananas are a different consistency so I’m not sure how it would work. Let us know if you try it.
What could I use in the place of coconut? Some family members don’t like it.
You can leave it out if you are not fond of coconut.
The one we make doesnt have coconut. Its 1 can cherry pie filling, 1/2 c sugar, 1 pkg raspberry jello, 1 can crushed pineapple, 4 bananas, 1 c pecans, and 1 top cool whip. Its more of a jello based pie with a the cool whip on top of pie not mixed in. There is a little cooking involved.
Thank you for sharing Rebecca!
I would love this recipe. I live with my daughter and her family which includes 3 teenagers. I think they would like this and it sounds great to me. Thank you
Strawberries!
I made this because I am one that believes anything with sweetened condensed milk is better. Super easy and good on a hot summer’s night. I’m not that big of a pecan fan so the next time I won’t put in as many nuts. Husband loved and the pie was gone in three days!
I am so glad you liked this recipe Nancy!
I made this for a ladies meeting at church. They loved it. I doubled recipe and made it in a 9×13. Was a hit.
Can you freeze pies.
I have not tried freezing this pie so I can’t say for sure how it would work.
It would warrant some experimenting but bet it would be really good.
This millionaire pie is so good.Very easy to make.
I am so glad you liked it!
The millionaire pie was a big hit, so quick and easy to prepare. Love it
I am so glad you enjoyed the recipe!
This is the ideal dessert for a summer afternoon, chased with some tea – hot or cold as you like it! Today was my shopping day, and I picked up the ingredients. When I got home I stirred this up. By supper time it will be nicely set up I confess to scraping the bowl clean with a rubber spatula (must not waste, right?) and can’t wait to share it with my husband! It reminds me of a frozen dessert that a friend served over 40 years ago. Flawless texture and looks like a Millionaire Pie.
I hope you and your husband enjoy the pie Coreen!
My husband hates coconut is there something that I can substitute instead of coconut? Please email me
You could leave it out completely to meet your preference.
