No-bake, no fuss… Millionaire Pie is simple to make and the best part is that it tastes delicious! There’s a very good reason this is one of the top recipes of all time on my blog!

We’ve served ambrosia salad at every holiday meal for as long as I can remember.  It’s such a great side and as a kid I always felt like I was having dessert with my dinner.  This pie has a similar flavor so if you like ambrosia salad, you’ll love this pie (plus pretty much anything with sweetened condensed milk has to be amazing right?!)!

Millionaire Pie with a cherry on top on two plates

This pie starts out with a base of sweetened condensed milk mixed with lemon juice (which causes it to thicken).  Once thickened, all of the yummy add-ins are mixed in including cherries, pineapple, coconut, and pecans.  It’s all poured into a graham crust and put in the fridge to set.

That’s it, no baking, no stove… just easy-peasy stir and pour!

Millionaire Pie cut into slices

You’ll want to make sure you squeeze out your pineapple as much as you can just to make sure your pie sets up well.  If you don’t have a store-bought graham crust, of course, this works with a homemade graham cracker crust.

Note:  If you do adapt this recipe to your tastes, do not leave out the lemon juice.  The addition of lemon juice thickens the pie and if you skip it your pie will be runny.

  1. I’ve made this for years and call it Million Dollar Pie. I usually only use strawberries or pineapple. Thought about using both but to add even more fruit and nuts. I think I’ll be in heaven. Will have to try it. Thanks!!

  2. I have been making a similar recipe for years, and is awesome also. It’s called Broken Glass. Made with Whipping cream, Pineapple juice, Sugar, Gelatine Jello.etc. And Then there is Sex in a Pan!

  3. I made this pie following the directions to the T…it was way to runny so I decided to add some extra coconut, it helped some but it still wouldn’t set up as the pictured pie…gonna keep trying variations because I love all the ingredients in it..it was still very yummy, just very runny.

    1. Hmm.. Did you add the full amount of lemon juice? Did you use reduced fat or light sweetened condensed milk?

      1. You have to make sure it is “sweetened condensed milk ” cause there is such a thing as sweet milk which is not eve close to the other.

      2. Also…be suer you are using ‘SWEETENED CONDENSED MILK< not "EVAPORATED MILK…some folks who dont cook much dont realize the difference and pick up the wrong kind.

  4. I don’t like pecans could I substitute another nut or leave them out all together? I like walnuts, peanuts, and cashews but don’t if they would go with the other ingredients. Thanks.

    1. You could try any of those nuts (although I don’t feel peanut flavor would match well) or you could leave the nuts out completely and the recipe would still work fine. :)

  5. I was disappointed in this pie….it was runny, and much too sweet. It didn’t cut like regular pie. I won’t be trying it again. I followed directions to the T what did I do wrong, by the way I used cool wh
    ip.

    1. I also used Cool Whip. Did you use the full amount of lemon juice? Was your pineapple very well drained?

      1. Hi there,,,,,what does the lemon juice do in the pie……….I used a little orange juuce instead….the condensed milk made the pie toooo sweet…. I served the pie but it didn’t cut out of the pan like a pie…..most of it went into the garbage…..so disappointed. Yes I dried the pineapple in a towel, and didn’t even put in the cherry juice…..tooo runny. Was I supposed to put the pie iin the freezer

      2. The lemon juice reacts with the condensed milk to thicken it. If you skipped the lemon juice that would likely be why your pie didn’t set. You do not need to put it in the freezer.

    2. You might try dissolving 1/2 small pkg. orange Jell-O in a bit of hot water, then cool and add to the filling. The gelatin in the Jell-O will firm up the pie, and add a nice orange flavor as well :-) Pineapple Jell-O would work, too.

      1. HI Julie, I also make a cheesecake -like pie using lemon jello amd only 1 cup of boiling water. I put this is a blender with one 8 ounce package of cream cheese. Blend together and pour into a prepared graham cracker crust. Makes a great cream cheese pie with lemon flavor. You can add any fruit you like on top with Cool Whip garnish. Delicious

    3. To make it thicker , add more lemon juice little at a time. I also was told that if you use metal spoon and bowl it won’t get thick. The calaboration of eaglebrand milk and lemon juice is what makes thick . I always use plastic bowl and spoons to mix. Always turns out with no fail.Hope this will help you.

  6. HELP! How come when I try to print the recipe it comes out in several pages of a 4″ strip on each page instead of 1 full page? I end up with more banner ads that I do of what I originally wanted. Arg!

    1. Oh no!! Did you use the “PRINT” button on the recipe? It’s on the right corner of the actual recipe. Hopefully that helps!

  7. Has anyone tried this with a chocolate Oreo cookie crust? (I’m not fond of graham cracker crust.)

    1. IT IS HEAVEN !!! WITH CRUSHED OREO CRUST!!! IF YOU CAN’T HAVE THE CHERRIES TRY DRIED CRANBERRIES JUST SOAK IN A LITTLE WARM RUM ABOUT AN HOUR BEFORE YOU ARE READY TO MAKE AND DRAIN ON A PAPER TOWEL BEFORE PREPARING .

      1. Would anyone know what could be used as a substitute for coconut? I have a severe allergy to it and would love too try the pie. It looks so good.

      2. I have made this with crushed OREO COOKIES in PARFAIT CUPS and you can also freeze these and take out when you want a YUMMY DESERT.

    2. I’m not a fan of graham cracker crumb crust either, so I like to use vanilla wafers (crushed up), mix with melted butter, and voila. You have a great vanilla crumb crust.

    1. I have a recipe on how to make sugarfree sweetened condensed milk. I will post as soon as I find it. I to am a diabetic.

      1. To make sugar free sweetened condensed milk you blend 1 cup powdered milk, 3 tablespoons melted butter, 1/3 cup BOILING water and 2/3 cup sugar substitute. This makes the equivalent of a 14 oz can.

      2. Just copied your recipe for sugar free sweetened condensed milk. What a wonderful thing for diabetics. I will be using it to make a millionaire pie for Christmas. Now i can cook for my family and myself using the same recipe.

    2. Perhaps oconut milk with a little xylitol? Or ~1/4-1/3 cup cashews blended with water sufficient for recipe. I use casews blended with water for vegan recipes such as macaroni and cheese, stroganoff, cream for coffee, etc. options for sweeteners are xylitol, as mentioned, maple syrup, dates (in the blender with the liquids) and honey.

  8. Holly, my daughter made this last night and said it is really good BUT THE SIZE OF THE PAN or how many pies this makes is missing. I told her everything over the phone from this receipe as it is written here and assumed a regular sized ready made graham cracker pie shell would do…WRONG! My daughter said it would make (2) 8 inch pies or possibly one 9×13? Please include this missing information and what size pan or pie shells/plate you use. THANK YOU!!!

      1. Thank you Holly! My daughter said this is delicious! I’m gonna make it this week!

    1. I buy the graham crust with the 2 extra servings and fill it..or you can always just put the extra in desert dishes and its wonderful!

  9. Hi Holly, I’ve just found your great blog through pinterest. Loving your work. . :-) For us in New Zealand please what is the whipped topping?

    1. You can skip the cherries if you can’t have them and make it without. The strawberries may have too much moisture if they are fresh. Another option would be canned peaches or other canned fruit drained well and chopped.

      1. Re: Millionaire Pie substitutions You said strawberries might be too watery to replace the cherries in the recipe, and suggested using drained peaches. The peaches would be more watery than the strawberries!

      2. I make a similar pie where I drain the peaches very well and haven’t found them to be watery. I’ll have to give it a try next time I make this and report back. :)

      1. it works with cream cheese, just not as fluffy recipe is 1 can sweetened condenced milk 1/4 cup lemon juice and 1 8 oz brick cream cheese room temp whip this together until smooth add fruits listed above and chill for several hours………… very rich and delicious

    1. That’s exactly what I was thinking! My sister’s mother-in-law has this cheesecake recipe that requires 1 package of softened cream cheese, 1 container of coolwhip, and 1 cup of sugar. Combine those ingredients and place into a graham cracker crust and it is so amazing. I was thinking of taking the fruits and nuts in this recipe and adding them to the cheesecake mixture. I think it sounds amazing!

    1. I haven’t tried it that way but I feel like it would probably work. If you do try it, please let us know how it works for you as others might be wondering the same thing! :)

    2. To make it like CoolWhip, add about a teaspoonful of prepared gelatin (with 2 teaspoons cold water, add gelatin to soften, then heat below boiling to completely dissolve). Then add gelatin to your sweetened whipped cream. This will keep it from separating and give it body.

    3. It might work if you are going to eat it right away, but homemade whipped cream is not as stable as Cool Whip and will begin to separate over time.

  10. I add mandarin oranges double the recipe and place in 9×13 dish, every body at church wonts me to bring
it every time we have a meal..

    1. How do you prepare the bottom of the 9×13 pan? Please give how many graham crackers to crush & ingredient/s to make crust for this size dish. Thank you!

      1. I always prepare at least 2-3 whole pkgs of graham crackers with at least 1/4 cup melted butter(enough to hold together the crackers), and 3 TBSP sugar together and smash to the bottom of the 9×13.

      2. Thank you Cindy! The picture in the original receipe looks like a regular sized pie dish but my daughter prepared this a few days ago and she used a ready-made g.c. crust and of course found out it made too much for one pie of that size. When asked if it would go in a 9×13 sized pan she said yes! Thanks again!

      3. I have a good recipe for the crust.

3 cups of Gram Cracker Crumbs
        2/3 cup white sugar
        3/4 cups melted butter
Mix all together and press in the pan
You do not have to grease the bottom of pan

      4. I can’t get the Millionaire pie recipe to pull up. I
would really like to have it.

      5. Depending on which device you’re on, you may need to hit the “Read More” button.

      1. You could leave the coconut out and replace a portion of it with extra nuts (or even slivered almonds).

    2. I happen to have some blueberries, I added those after musing them with potato smasher.. it was a hit.. I would guess about 1/3 cup.. I didn’t measure ,lol bcuz I didn’t know how this was gonna turn out / but yay.. it was yummy
