Ingredients and Variations

EGGS: Egg bites can be made from a combination of whole eggs, egg whites, or even store-bought liquid eggs in a carton. Easy peasy! Mix in some taco seasoning for Tex-Mex style egg bites!

MEAT: Bacon goes hand-in-hand with eggs, but we also like chopped ham, sliced breakfast sausage, even leftover shredded chicken, beef, or pork.

VEGGIES: We love ALL the veggies for egg bites! Make sure they are chopped or diced finely so the egg bites stay intact. Whatever works in an omelet, works for egg bites! Try colorful bell peppers, mushrooms, onions, spinach, even diced zucchini!

Kitchen Tip These cook quickly so veggies won’t have the chance to cook through. Use cooked veggies or even pop them in the microwave for a minute before adding to the egg mixture.

How to Make Air Fryer Egg Bites

It’s easy to make air fryer egg bites!

  1. Whisk eggs until fluffy. Add remaining ingredients (per recipe below) & pour into silicone molds, ¾ full.
  2. Stir the eggs partway through cooking.
  3. Cook until eggs are set.

We use this silicone mold for egg bites (and in the Instant Pot too). You can use a small muffin pan or even small ramekins that fit in your air fryer.  If your molds are a different size, they may need a bit more or less time to cook.

Tips for Perfection

  • Whisk the eggs until they’re a fluffy pale yellow. You should see no bits of white or yolk.
  • Don’t add too many mix-ins or the egg bites won’t hold together.
  • Precook veggies and squeeze out any moisture before adding.
  • Stir the eggs after 7 or 8  minutes. This helps distribute the add ins (or they will sink or float depending on what you’ve added).
  • Eggs will continue to cook after they’ve been removed from the air fryer so do not overcook.

Leftovers

Keep egg bites in a zippered bag or a container in the refrigerator for up to 7 days.

Freeze them individually in plastic wrap and then in a zippered bag.

Pull one or two out and reheat in a preheated air fryer for about 4 minutes. Or, put the frozen egg bites in a backpack or briefcase and they’ll be thawed by lunchtime!

Air Fryer Egg Bites

These Air Fryer Egg Bites are an easy & tasty way to enjoy eggs all week long!
Prep Time 10 minutes
Cook Time 15 minutes
Total Time 25 minutes

Ingredients  

  • 7 eggs
  • 1 tablespoon heavy whipping cream
  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • ¼ cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 4 slices bacon cooked and crumbled
  • 2 green onions sliced
  • ¼ teaspoon dry mustard powder
  • salt and pepper to taste

Instructions 

  • Preheat air fryer to 340°F.
  • Whisk eggs, cream, milk, mustard powder, salt & pepper in a medium bowl until fluffy and pale yellow in color.
  • Divide bacon, cheese and green onions over the cups of the molds (or small bowls).
  • Place in the air fryer basket and pour egg mixture overtop.
  • Cook in the air fryer for 11-13 minutes stirring after 7-8 minutes. Cook just until eggs are set (they will continue cooking a little bit once removed. Rest 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

Air Fryers can vary. Based on your appliance and the size of the mold you use, the eggs may need a little bit more or less time. Cook just until they are set.

  1. I made your egg bites in my air fryer and they turned out fantastic. I used what I had on hand so I substituted Canadian bacon for regular bacon and I used a mixture of cheddar and Monterey jack cheeses. I particularly appreciated the tip of giving them a stir halfway through the cooking time so that the veggies did not sink. With all of the assorted fillings, it turns out that I made a dozen egg bites. They are cooling now so they are too hot to taste. But I’m sure that they will be great. I’ve always made egg bites in instant pot, but the texture was always a little bit spongy. These look really great.5 stars

  2. Delicious! Easy! I have breakfast for a couple of weeks that I know will be healthy, organic and satisfying.

    I used sage chicken sausage diced and red onions as I didn’t have green onions. The two I “tested” were perfectly cooked, so yummy and fluffy. The extras are frozen the rest in parchment to take into work for busy Mom kind of mornings.

  4. I have the air fryer from Pampered Chef which has racks and not a basket. Should I place the bites on the top, middle or bottom rack setting?

    1. Hi Rachael, I haven’t tried it so I can’t say for sure but I would try placing them on the middle rack. Enjoy!

  6. I just wanted to cut down on the calories due to my diet. I replaced the bacon with imitation bacon bits, the heavy cream with zero fat Greek yogurt….it still taste good and cuts my points intake for WW diet.5 stars

  7. I made these in our Ninja DT201 Air Fryer Oven. My pan has 12 wells so I kept the ingredients the same for 14 except for using 12 eggs. The recipe made 3 cups which was perfect at 1/4 cup each! I added 1/2 tsp of smoked paprika to spice them up a little. These are the best egg bites I have ever had! Thank you so much for the recipe. I wish I could post a picture.5 stars

  8. Love these…I didn’t have any green onios so I used freeze dried chives…Didn’t want to use up the bacon I had AFed for my wife, so I used the real bacon bits I put on salads…I used my silicon donut molds and they came out really great…Will definitely make them again.

    1. We leave the cover off the mold and set it in the air fryer basket. Then close the air fryer and cook as per the recipe.

      1. Your recipe has heavy cream and milk listed as ingredients but only mentions the heavy cream in your steps. Do you choose either or do you add both?
