Holly’s Recipe Highlights
- Flavor: Seasoned bread crumbs are savory and crunchy with a hint of garlic, onion, herbs, and salt.
- Budget Tip: Use any kind of leftover or stale bread on hand, or combine different kinds of bread and prevent waste!
- Swaps: Keep breadcrumbs plain or season them to match the menu.
- Freezing: Make a double (or triple!) batch and freeze for up to 3 months.

Ingredient Tips for Seasoned Bread Crumbs
- Bread: Choose denser breads that produce more crumbs, including the heels. Collect scraps and heels of stale bread, dried out rolls, or buns; anything goes.
- Panko: Panko bread crumbs are processed differently, and they’re flatter and stay crispy longer than regular breadcrumbs. Buy it or learn how to make your own Panko here.
- Seasonings: We kept it basic, but you can try mixing homemade breadcrumbs with lemon pepper seasoning, Cajun seasoning, or Adobo seasoning for a kick. Or use an Italian blend to boost the flavor of recipes like this Parmesan chicken meatloaf.
