What Is Adobo Seasoning

Adobo seasoning is a combination of salt, garlic, and other savory spices. It is primarily used in Latin American, Caribbean, and Filipino cuisines and can be found premade in most supermarkets.

What’s in adobo seasoning? Everything you probably already have in your spice cabinet! If you can’t find Spanish paprika, substitute regular paprika, and add a dash more garlic powder. Adobo seasoning includes:

    • kosher salt & pepper
    • Spanish paprika
    • black pepper
    • garlic powder
    • onion powder
    • oregano
    • chili powder
    • cumin

What to Use it For

Adobo seasoning is an all-purpose seasoning used for everything from chicken to beef, pork, fish, and even non-meat dishes like soups, beans, rice, and even eggs!

How To Make Adobo Seasoning

This all-purpose seasoning is so simple to prepare!

  1. Combine all ingredients.

That’s all there is to it! Since it lasts for 6 months try making a large batch to always have some on hand.

To Store Seasoning

Keep adobo seasoning in an airtight container or jar with a tight-fitting lid in the cupboard out of direct sunlight or moisture.

It should stay fresh for about 6 months. So label it with the date it was prepared.

Most spices can be kept in the fridge or freezer, too, provided they are tightly sealed and no air can get in.
