This Broiled Parmesan Tilapia is the best tilapia recipe I’ve ever had with a tender flaky fish fillet and an amazing parmesan crust!
This broiled tilapia recipe has been pinned 750,000+ times, and for good reason. Once you’ll try it, you will see why everyone raves over this recipe and it will be one of your go-to tilapia recipes!

This Parmesan Broiled Tilapia is so easy and delicious, making it one of my absolute favorite tilapia recipes! With just a few minutes to prep and this whole dish is on the table in 10 minutes start to finish!
Serve this easy dish with a squeeze of fresh lemon or Dill Pickle Tartar Sauce, roasted broccoli and a side salad for the perfect meal.
What is Tilapia?
Tilapia is a white fish that was traditionally found in Africa, but is now farmed in many countries including domestically. It is an excellent source of protein and a good source of vitamins and minerals. So not only is it good for you, but the fact that it is delicious is just a bonus!
While this recipe calls for tilapia, any white fish can easily be substituted with excellent results!

How to Cook Tilapia
You’ll be amazed at how easy (and quick) most tilapia recipes are. Like most fish, it is important that you do not overcook your tilapia fillets as they can dry out. You can cook tilapia in the oven or it can be poached, fried, or broiled.
In this recipe, I have chosen to broil it. I love how quick it is but also that this tilapia recipe creates a very moist flaky fish with a beautifully browned parmesan crust!

How Long to Cook Tilapia in the Oven
While you can easily make oven baked tilapia, I do love broiling it to make it really fast. Broiled on high, this tilapia recipe only takes 3-4 minutes per side, depending of course on the size of the fillet. If the fish fillet is quite large you will need to increase broil time by a minute each side.
Baking tilapia is as easy as broiling is but will not produce an outer crust as browned and delicious. For this reason I prefer to broil the tilapia in this recipe.
Parmesan Broiled Tilapia is a great start to any meal in under 15 minutes. We serve it with Green Beans with Bacon and a side of Garlic Butter Rice for the perfect meal! Risotto, pasta and of course classic french fries are all great sides for this fresh and crusty entree! While it makes a quick meal during the week, this recipe is definitely one you will want to serve when you have guests over. It will be a favorite for sure!

Made this tonight, substituted the dill for Italian seasoning I already had in cabinet. I fully intended on taking these mind blowing pics but in the midst of tasting, ALL TRAIN OF THOUGHT WAS LOST. What an amazing recipe, so simple and fast to make. What I loved most about this recipe is it didn’t require a trip to the grocery store. I had all the ingredients in the fridge,SCORE!!
Don’t you love it when that happens? I’m so glad you liked the recipe! It’s so tasty!
I made this tonight. It was so good! I forgot to put the lemon juice in it though, but still very delicious.
So glad you enjoyed this!
Love this recipe! Have made it 4 times!! I added paprika instead of pepper & some Panko breadcrumbs for a little crunch. No leftovers on this one!!! And so easy & quick☺
I love the idea of adding some breadcrumbs. Thank you for sharing!

I’m so glad your family loved this recipe!
Is there another herb you can use besides dill, not really a fan of dill
You can leave out the dill, this will still have a great parmesan flavor.
I’m not a fish lover but this sounded really tasty ,so I made it for dinner tonight omg! It was really good I will definitely make it again
I’m so glad you enjoyed it!
Been making my tilapia this way for years! So delicious and looks great as well.

Nice and easy dinner. Thank you and have a good weekend!
You’re welcome Liz! I hope you have a great weekend too!
Can you just bake this and not Broil it?
I have only made this recipe as written however I do think you could bake it. I would suggest baking it at 425 degrees for about 10-12 minutes or until just cooked and flaky.
Substituted garlic for dill…..delicious!!!
I like to substitute light sour cream in place of the mayo/dressing. It makes it a little less greasy and taste better if you’re not a fan of mayo. My family loves this!
i am assuming this is shredded Parmesan?
Yes either shredded or grated parmesan will work in this recipe!
Can I put in regular oven? What temperature and for how long? (Sorry I’m an inexperienced cook as well).
Yes, it goes in the regular oven under broil. The broil temperature on my oven is 500 degrees.
This would work well with any white fish. Since im not a fan og tilapia I may try it with fresh Oregon caught rockfish
Definitely would work with any white fish! Enjoy!
Hi what is the temperature for broiling fish? Sorry I am very inexperience cook.
I broil at 500 degrees.
