Homemade M&M Cookies are a favorite for any age with a glass of cold milk. Brown sugar gives them a satisfying chewiness, and the M&M’s candy coating provides a pleasant crunch.
Cookies baked from scratch always taste so much better than store-bought and these cookies are such a colorful, fun change of pace from the usual chocolate chip or sugar cookies. You’ll love how easy these are to make and freeze.
How to Make M&M Cookies
These M&M cookies are not thick, they’re a little bit of a thinner cookie but super soft, chewy and yummy. Perfection in our opinion!
This is great recipe introduce kids to baking.
- Cream softened butter with white and brown sugar first (per recipe below). Mix the egg into the sugar mixture.
- Combine dry ingredients into the butter and sugar mixture a little at a time.
- Bake until lightly browned.
The dough will keep in the fridge for 3-4 days, or in the freezer for 3 months. Form into a 2-3-inch log and tightly wrap in two or three layers of plastic, or in one layer inside a freezer bag. Whenever you want, warm from the oven cookies, just slice into ½-inch discs and bake until browned and fragrant.

I made this for the first time day for my Mom who loves M&M’s and who is just recovering from surgery. She loved them and so did I. They turned out nice and chewy. The recipe was easy to follow.
I am so glad you and your mom loved this recipe Tamara!
I am not eating eggs so What is the best egg substitute for M&M cookies?
I’ve only tried this recipe as written so I can’t say for sure.
Baking time will vary depending on how big you make the cookies, keep in mind that the butter and the M&M’s will both flatten the cookies out a bit. Easy enough to make with kids or grandkids (-:
Needed a quick and easy cookie recipe and this was perfect!
So glad you loved them Samantha!
Yum! Slightly crispy near the edges and soft in the middle. Thank you!
I followed the recipe exactly and used the cookies scoop and parchment paper. I baked them in a 375° oven for 12 minutes and they turned out perfectly. The only thing I would add is it called for one cup of M&M’s and I think I should have added an extra quarter cup of M&Ms. Thanks for the recipe!
The cookies looked great! The consistency of the dough was perfect. However, these did not seem sugary enough. The cookie was pretty bland and I am someone who does not like super sugary desserts. Also, I needed to bake these about 13 minutes before they were done.
Delicious! Perfectly soft and chewy. I add a little variety by splitting the dough in half and adding M&M’s to one half and mini chocolate chips to the other. This is our new favorite cookie recipe!
