Ingredients

OATS: The basic ingredient for most granola is oats. Use rolled oats (or large flake oats) for this recipe.

ADD-INS: All the add-ins like flaxseed, coconut, pecans, and pumpkin seeds are important also. They can be substituted with other nuts and seeds like chia seeds, hemp seeds, and sunflower seeds.

THE SWEETENER: Maple syrup is the main sweetener for this recipe. Swap it for honey if you’d like.

THE SPICE: And don’t forget about the all-important pumpkin spice, or else this Pumpkin Spice Granola would just be granola!

VARIATIONS: Omit the chocolate chips and add some cranberries instead. To make this granola gluten-free, make sure that the oats are made in a gluten-free facility. For paleo granola, the grains like oats need to be omitted. Replace the oats with ground walnuts or almonds. Omit the chocolate chips and replace the oil with melted coconut oil.
