Holly’s Recipe Highlights
- Flavor: Balanced, herby, and aromatic!
- Skill Level: This recipe is beginner-friendly. Just measure and mix!
- Prep Note: Making your own Italian seasoning is easy and allows you to adjust the flavors to your tastes. You can adjust the sodium or ensure it’s gluten-free (just check your spices).
- Budget Tip: Making spice blends at home is often more cost-effective than purchasing pre-made versions, so make a large batch and stock up.
- Storage Suggestion: Store it in a spice jar or an airtight container for up to 6 months. You can keep it longer since the spices are dried, but it will begin to lose flavor.

Why didn’t you show how much to use.
How much of the finished Italian seasoning you use will depend on the recipe you are making. But it can be used as a 1:1 replacement for store-bought seasoning.
I’d like to use this in cooking for my baby. can I just omit the garlic & red pepper flakes?
It will change the flavor profile but you can omit any ingredients you need.
I just made a batch of this spice mixture for the umpteenth time! I really appreciate all your recipes as I almost always have the ingredients and it helps me to stretch my grocery budget. Thank you!
I ran out of my store bought Italian seasoning so I googled for a recipe. I made yours with all the ingredients I found I already had on my spice rack, it turned out excellent. Also I was pleased to use up my spices that I don’t use very often. I will make it again. Thanks.
Great recipe! Rarely have my meatloafs turned out, this one stayed together perfectly and had a great flavor.
I love the beef soup recipe that this appears in. I come back to this recipe again and again. Easy and the flavors compliment so many things. I even use it to make a salad dressing.
Thank you for great recipes.
Thanks for this combo!
I love making my own seasoning blends to control the the quality and predictability. This is my go to for Italian recipes – and no salt or other fillers is appreciated. Plus it helps go thru seasonings faster so they don’t get old.
