ingredients for air fryer pork chops

Ingredients

Like most air fryer recipes, this one cooks quickly and comes out crisp on the outside and juicy inside.

PORK CHOPS: Choose boneless chops about 1/2″ thick. Thicker chops will need a minute or two more while thinner chops will need less time.

SEASONED CRUMBS: Seasoned and regular Panko breadcrumbs with a bit of parmesan cheese adds lots of flavor.

Variations

  • Bone-In pork chops or thicker chops will need a few extra minutes of cook time. I highly recommend an instant-read thermometer to ensure they don’t overcook.
  • Seasonings: Add your favorites from garlic powder, onion powder to cajun seasoning, or swap out salt for seasoned salt.
  • Brine: If time allows, the brine pork chops for extra flavor (we do this with oven baked pork chops). If brining, be sure to skip the salt in the recipe as brine adds salt.

How to Make Air Fryer Pork Chops

Simple prep and easy cooking are what the air fryer is all about. Pork chops have never been easier to fry up!

  1. Pat pork chops dry with a paper towel.
  2. Season both sides of the pork chop with salt & black pepper, dip in flour, then in egg (per recipe below).
  3. Firmly press chops into breadcrumbs. Spray with cooking spray or olive oil spary.
  4. Cook in the air fryer until browned, turning halfway through.

No Air Fryer? No Problem!  You can make Crispy Breaded Pork Chops in the oven.

Don’t want breading? You can try brown sugar chops without breading. Leave a little bit of time for brining if you can!

Tips for Juicy Pork Chops

  • Ensure chops are equal in size and thickness so they all cook at the same rate.
  • Dabbing the chops dry helps the coating to stick.
  • Preheat the air fryer so the hot air can instantly seal the outside, keeping in all the delicious juices!
  • Keep a small space between food so the hot air can circulate around and cook everything properly.
  • Like pork tenderloin, pork chops can (and should) be a little tiny bit pink in the middle to ensure they’re juicy.
  • Internal temperature should read 140°F, test at the thickest part of the meat. Remove it from the air fryer a few degrees before (137°F) as the meat will continue to cook once removed from the air fryer. I highly recommend an instant read thermometer to ensure they don’t overcook.
  • Always allow meat to rest before serving.

Ingredients

  • 4 boneless pork chops ½" thick
  • salt and black pepper
  • ¼ cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • ½ cup seasoned bread crumbs
  • ¼ cup Panko bread crumbs
  • 2 tablespoons shredded Parmesan cheese
  • ½ teaspoon paprika or smoked paprika
  • 1 egg beaten with 1 tablespoon water

Instructions

  • Dab pork chops dry with a paper towel. Season both sides with salt & pepper.
  • Whisk flour and Italian seasoning. Place in a shallow bowl or plate.
  • In another dish, combine bread crumbs, Panko, parmesan cheese, paprika, and salt & pepper to taste.
  • Lightly dredge pork with flour and then dip into beaten egg. Finally, dip into the breadcrumb mixture, pressing to adhere.
  • Preheat air fryer to 400°F.
  • Spray each side of the pork chops with cooking spray or olive oil spray and place in the air fryer basket ensuring there is room for the air to circulate.
  • Cook 5 minutes. Flip the pork chops over and cook an additional 4-6 minutes or until browned and the thickest part reaches 140°F with a meat thermometer.
  • Remove pork from the air fryer basket and place on a wire rack. Let rest 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • Thicker chops will need a couple minutes longer, thinner chops will cook faster.
  • Appliances can vary, check the chops early to ensure they don’t overcook.
  • Dabbing the chops dry helps the coating to stick.
  • Preheat the air fryer and be sure not to overcrowd the basket so air can circulate.
  • Pork chops can (and should) be a little tiny bit pink in the middle to ensure they’re juicy.
  • Internal temperature should read 140°F, test at the thickest part of the meat. Remove them from the air fryer a few degrees before (137°F) as the meat will continue to cook once removed from the air fryer. I highly recommend an instant read thermometer to ensure they don’t overcook.

  2. I was a little nervous because there’s nothing like a dried out pork chop, but these were absolutely perfect! I followed the directions exactly, 5 minutes per side.5 stars

  3. This has become a go to recipe for pork chops in my house! I do add a pat of butter to each chop instead of using spray. I love the flavor it adds!5 stars

  4. Hi Holly! What size air fryer do you use? Originally, I bought an Instant Pot with the air fryer lid, but the basket is too small to make most of your air fryer recipes, I would have to break them up into batches, and for a recipe like this one, I’d like to be able to cook them all at the same time. Any suggestions?

  5. Simply delicious, Holly! Made just as you described above and we enjoyed a lovely dinner. Thank you!5 stars

  6. Made this for dinner tonight. Was sceptical I’ve never baked a juicy tender pork chop. They always turned out dry and tough. I gave up trying and always make SWP crock pot pork chop with onion and mushroom gravy instead. Omg this air fryer pork chop was so good. Nice crispy crust juicy and tender so delicious. Will make it again and again. I had bone in chops pre heated air fryer and baked at 400 for 11 mins flipping 1/2 way. Done to perfection. I served it with the zucchini tomato onion recipe also delicious and rice. Thx so much quick easy yummy budget friendly.5 stars

  7. I’ve been trying various panko pork chop recipes with my air fryer. This one got a thumbs up from my husband. I didn’t put in the paprika, but otherwise followed the recipe faithfully. The result were crispy, but juicy chops with a lovely crust. I normally don’t put herbs in my flour when breading, but this combination was not only easy, but put the flavor where it was needed.5 stars

  8. I made these everything according to the recipe and was very disappointed because even though they were juicy they had no flavor whatsoever. Luckily I had made mashed potatoes with gravy and smothered them in gravy to eat one.

    1. Hi David, topped with gravy sounds like a delicious idea. For more flavor in the pork chops themselves be sure to add fresh spices and try smoked paprika instead of regular. You can also adjust the seasoning to your preferences as well!

  9. Thank you for posting this wonderful recipe, i love Pork chops especially when made as special sauce, thats why im glad to found this recipe that easy to cook in air fryer, i will surely make this one of this days. I am looking forward to see more such type of recipe.
