A new year, a new start…  there are so many ways you can begin!  The key to it all is to #BeActiv in your own way!

This can mean playing with your kids or going to the gym…  but it can also mean making sure you are fueling your body well and ensuring you are getting the things you need (like the right amount of calcium for your age)!

How am I choosing to #BeActiv this year?

While being active can mean going to the gym everyday it can be so much more!  Making changes that are sustainable…  here is how I plan to #BeActiv this year!

1.  Physically being active

Being active doesn’t always mean heading to the gym for another ho-hum workout! I choose to #BeActiv by enjoying more recreational activities with my family! In fact just this week we went bowling and participated in a Parent vs. Kids soccer game!15 Grab and Go Healthy Snacks! These great snacks are ready when you are, perfect for those busy on the go kind of days!

        • Play a sport
        • Take the kids to the park
        • Walk the dogs as a family
        • Go for a swim local pool

2.  Healthier Habits

I am determined to focus on what is going into my body!   This doesn’t mean I can’t enjoy a glass of wine or a piece of cake and it doesn’t mean giving my entire daily diet an overhaul, it just means being aware and indulging in moderation.

These are the small changes I am making:

        • Eating breakfast
        • Having great healthy snacks easily accessible
        • Supplementing my diet by ensuring I am meeting my daily requirements (like adding Calcium)
        • Drinking more water (and making it delicious by flavoring it with fruits)

Simple changes that will help me  feel great both physically and mentally!  This means I am less tired and more productive!

While I do try to eat well, I know that I don’t always get enough calcium from my diet (in fact a whopping 70% of women and 85% of teens are calcium deficient)!  Having suffered a stress fracture in my hip from running a couple of years ago, it’s especially important to me that I get plenty of calcium!  I have to say, I was surprised that even intentionally including calcium rich foods in my diet, I was STILL not getting enough (you can check how much calcium you need here)!
