Don’t forget to Pin this so it’s easy to find when you’re ready to make it!
I have 4 kids, the oldest is now 20… As you can imagine, I have made a TON of Playdough in my day! After trial and error and blending many recipes, this is my favorite concoction! I sometimes add a little peppermint extract, it smells great!
The best part… No cooking required!
- 2 cups flour
- 1 cup salt
- 3 tablespoons cream of tartar
- 2 tablespoons oil
- 2 cups boiling water
- 1 teaspoon peppermint extract (optional)
- food coloring (optional)
- Put all ingredients into a bowl. Add boiling water.
- Knead until smooth.
Love it? Pin it!
How long does this remain “soft”?
If it’s well sealed, it should last a month or two.
I tried this recipe and it looks like pudding. I had to add way more flour to play with. Is there something I’m missing?
I can’t say for sure why it didn’t work out, I’ve made it several times. Did you use all purpose flour?
I thank you so much for sharing your recipe. I am an English preschool teacher in Greece. The kids absolutely love it!!! And so do I
I am so glad your students have been able to enjoy the playdough!
I just tried this recipie + added food colouring, 6 drops lavender and a small container of sparkles!! I had to add about 1/4 cup flower. Turned out perfect!
Sprinkles sound like such a fun addition!
The only thing I don’t like is that the playdough is SUPER hot so you have to wait a good 10 minutes for it to cool down
Best. Recipe. EV-ER! Thanks:)
I have a 21-month-old daughter and I have been looking for some playdough recipes. Thanks a lot!
