These easy Dorito Chicken Tenders are going to be the hit of your next party (and put a huge smile on your kids’ faces)!
Tender juicy chicken breasts crusted in our favorite cheesy Doritos and baked to crispy perfection.
Serve them with ranch or blue cheese dressing for dipping!
If I indulge in one snack, I’m pretty much going guarantee it’s going to be Doritos! They’re one of my all time favorite treats and while the Nacho Cheese is my favorite, I’ll eat ANY flavor!
My kids love chicken and I usually make a Crispy Baked Parmesan Chicken into perfect crispy chicken strips.
When I happen to run low on bread crumbs or corn flakes, I use pretty much any kind of cereal or cracker I happen to have in the pantry. Anything from Ritz crackers to tortilla chips will make an awesome crust for chicken.
In this recipe, instead of the typical breading we have crusted these chicken tenders with crispy cheesy Doritos!
The result is a perfectly crispy crust loaded with flavor. I personally prefer traditional Nacho Cheese flavored Doritos but I have made these with Cool Ranch and they were great too… any flavor of Doritos will work!
When crushing your chips, you’ll want them to be be crushed quite small but not made into a powder, you still want some texture.
We use chicken breasts and slice them into 3/4″ strips (you can also cube them if you’d prefer Doritos chicken nuggets), dip them into an egg wash and press them into the crushed tortilla chips.
If you’re doing a large batch of these, I would suggest working in batches and only putting some of the crushed Doritos in the bowl at a time.
If they end up too wet they won’t stick to the chicken well.
If you’d prefer, you can certainly use a whole chicken breast (which is great served with a taco salad) or even chicken thighs.
We serve it alongside a fresh green salad and roasted potatoes for a delicious meal!
To keep the chicken moist and juicy, be sure not to overcook them! We serve these with either ranch or blue cheese for dipping! They make the perfect party food!

Note: The original recipe added bread crumbs to the Doritos. After trying this a few times, the breadcrumbs have been removed for a better flavor .

What a great idea. I used to have a mild obsession for Doritos, and I know my son will love this recipe.
Tastes good but it’s lacking any real kick! Seems like it needs one more ingredient to put it over the top
When you say ” a bag of Doritos” for 2 chicken breasts- do you mean a big grab size bag or snack size bag ? I can’t imagine that 2 chic breasts would call for an entire traditional 13 oz bag of Doritos … Or am I wrong?
I make potato chip chicken with Pringles — not normal potato chips –
Pringles only! Pringles are dehydrated unlike regular chips so they are extra super crispy and they don’t get greasy they just stay crunchy I like to use the sour cream and onion and then use a couple teaspoons of buttermilk powder which I always have in the freezer and A little onion powder and garlic powder to mix – extra awesome !!
Really want to made this Dorito chicken .. I like to take sour cream and pace picante sauce ( it’s sold with the pace salsa it’s not as chucky) and make a quick dip. You can use fat-free sour cream or low-fat and you have a really super low calorie day at the taste awesome you can even make it with fat-free cream cheese if you want something to spread on tortillas but I thought that this chicken would taste good dipped in my cream salsa sauce! :)
Most likely you’ll have Doritos leftover. I used the 10.5oz size. The Pringles chicken sound delicious!
Even BETTER wit Remoulade: 3/4 cup mayo, 2 tbs creole mustard, tsp paprika, tsp chachere’s seasoning, tsp lemon or pickle juice, tsp sweet basil, tsp tabasco, 1 clove garlic smashed and mined. mix to blend serve chilled.
I won’t to make this for my grandkids
Not what I was expecting…won’t make this again
What would be good side dishes to prepare with this? Cooking these for my parents tomorrow night and I want to make a full meal for them!
They have a corn flavor (rather than a Dorito flavor). Because the corn has a bit of sweetness, I like to serve them with a zesty coleslaw of some sort and oven fries or homemade mac & cheese.
Really hoped for more then I got. I used buffalo chicken chips and it doesn’t taste a thing like buffalo. Too bad. My bf liked it regardless so I am happy. I think the chips soaked up too much from the chicken and made it less flavorful. Oh well. Better luck next time.
Instead of egg and milk, use mayonnaise to keep the crumbs on! I use Kraft Mayonnaise with Olive Oil. Dry the chicken off, coat the chicken with mayonnaise, cover with the crumbs and bake until it’s done. It makes the chicken that much more moist!! It’s amazing!!
Great idea!!
My picky eater loved this. I’ve made a countless number of different chicken recipes hoping to get him to like something other than a fast food nugget. This was the easiest dinner we’ve had with him in a long time. Now I’m trying to think of what else I can smother in smashed doritos to get him to eat it. Broccoli maybe? ;)
So glad he loved them!
When my oldest was little I put goldfish on everything to get him to try things- just a few. On soup, in sandwiches, in quesadillas, on top of salad. It worked! Maybe I was just lucky with that. Your comment reminded me of that time in my life!
I’d noticed in one of the other comments about the panko bread crumbs…I don’t see that ingredient listed in the recipe. How much of the Panko is needed for the Dorito-Crusted Chicken Strips and do you add it to the crushed Doritos?
Originally the recipe did call for adding 1/2 Doritos and 1/2 Panko bread crumbs. After feedback and trying the recipe a couple times, I found that the flavor was better with just Doritos so I adapted it to get the best results.
After your done making the chicken to give it that nocho cheese flavor try sprinkling some powdered nacho cheese the one they use for the popcorn not to much but just enough to give it that Doritos tast your looking for :)
I used the cheese flavor and they do not come out tasting like Doritos. The flavor is more like a corn coating in my opinion.
My kids LOVED this chicken !!!
What size bag of Doritos would you use ?
I used about 1/2 of the bigger bag (not the individual size).
This is a quick easy and tasty recipe that my whole family will eat. Thanks!!!!

I just wanted to know for the Doritos Crusted Chicken do you have to use the Panko Bread Crumbs or can they be substituted with another brand of bread crumbs?
I am sure it would work just as well with any type of breadcrumbs. :)
Holly…. just checking if you want to do more chicken would u add say 1 more egg and a little more milk?
2 tablespoon of milk is not very much, but it must have worked for you…. thanks michael
I might have to drop this into some peanut oil…… for a treat……. thanks
The egg/milk is just to make the crust stick. I had a little extra left over so depending on how many you do, you may have enough. If not, just double up on the egg & milk portion. :)
Enjoy!!
Wishing you a peaceful Memorial Day Weekend and thank you so much for sharing with Full Plate Thursday.

I’ve been looking for an excuse to cook with Doritos. This looks yummy!
I have made an awesome meatloaf with Doritos!
2lb hamburger
1 lb of hot sausage/ can use reg if you don’t like the hotness
two packs of taco seasoning
1 large onion
2 cans mexican tomatoes
2 eggs
dorito cheese jar
mix all but small a small portion of tomatoes and dorito cheese …. form into loaf …… put random holes with a wooden spoon or something similar and fill with the cheese…. put the remaining tomato mixture ontop of meatloaf take maple syrup and swirl onto the tomato mixture …..cook at 325 until done~ mmm good
lol I forgot to say I crushed up cheese doritos to use instead of bread crumbs~~ the tomatoes replace the liquid!
Sounds fantastic!!
Sounds ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL, but my hubs suffers from Gastroparesis and can’t digest beef or tomatos, so unfortunately I won’t be making it.
Use a roasted red pepper puree instead of tomatoes and ground turkey instead of beef
Sound’s great lm going to go home and try this for lunch!!!!
