Braised red cabbage is one of my favorite easy side dishes! Easy, healthy, and colorful, this braised cabbage recipe goes with just about everything!

  • 6 cups red cabbage chopped
  • 1 apple peeled and sliced
  • 1/2 onion slivered
  • 1/4 cup cider vinegar
  • 3 tablespoons white sugar
  • 1/3 cup water may need more
  • 1/8 teaspoon cloves
  • salt and pepper to taste

  1. Combine all ingredients in a large saucepan.
  2. Bring to a boil, reduce heat to a low simmer and cover.
  3. Cook covered for 90 minutes stirring occasionally. Add more water if needed.
  4. Season to taste with salt and pepper and serve warm.
