Dry skin is itchy, ugly and annoying. The winter can dry out your skin with the cold, your heater can dry out the air in your home, as can your a/c, and you’re left with scratchy, dry, red skin. But the chemical moisturizers seem to work for a little while, but you have to constantly reapply them. So if you’re tired of spending tons of money on store-bought moisturizers, try some of these DIY at home moisturizers, all with no chemicals!
Avocado: This green machine has some great skin moisturizing abilities. Mash up some ripe avocado and spread it on your dry skin. The natural oils in avocado will make your skin super smooth!
Honey: Honey is also a great natural moisturizer. The sugars in honey are great for keeping the oils of your skin in balance. You can mix honey, avocado and sugar together for a great face mask. Let it sit on your skin for about 10-20 minutes then wash off.
Bananas: Mash up some bananas for all over skin softening. Get back your baby skin and do it for super cheap!
Mayonnaise: Natural, whole egg mayo makes for a great facial. The fatty oils in mayo are great for soft, touchable skin. Just spread it on and let it sit for about 20 minutes, then hop in the shower. Your skin will be super clean, soft, and feel rejuvenated.
Coconut oil: Coconut oil makes some great recipes in the kitchen, but the essential oils in it also serve for a great skin softening mask!
Milk and powdered milk: Soak your body in whole milk, or make a paste from water and powdered milk for softer, healthier skin. Buttermilk is the best! Soak it let it sit on your skin for about 20 minutes before rinsing and you’ll never go back to expensive skin products again!
Paraffin wax: Get softer hands and feet with a melted paraffin wax bath. A lot of expensive hand softening products include this cheap kind of wax, so get creative and make your own. It will save you buckets on hand creams! Just melt the paraffin, add some essential oils to make it smell nice, the pour into plastic bags. Tie the bags over your hands or feet and let them sit for a few minutes until the wax hardens again. Your hands will feel like silk!
