Beer is an American staple in most homes. Whether it’s the leftover bottles from the game, the party, or maybe you just like to relax with a cold one after a hard day, beer seems to find a home in most fridges. But does it have any other uses? You bet it does!

Control the pests: Placing open jars or plates full of beer by your precious plants outside will trap slugs and snails, killing them before they can grab your greens. The slimy little suckers are drawn in by the smell of the beer, and will climb right in!

Contain fruit flies: Caught some fruit flies in the house when you left an apple on the counter before vacation? No problem. Pour a can of beer into an open glass, then cover with plastic wrap. Punch a tiny hole in the top with a toothpick. The flies will be drawn in, but won’t be able to get back out!

Fertilize your garden: Pour any leftover beer at the bottom of your glass into your garden; your plants like the sugars in it almost as much as you do. You can also use it to remove unwanted  mushrooms and feed your grass at the same time. Just pour a beer over the infected area. The alcohol will kill the fungus and feed the grass you want to keep.

Condition and clean your hair: Pour a can of cheap beer over your hair once a week right after you’ve washed it. It will soak into the strands and revitalize your hair from the roots. Gets out the hair products you’ve been using all week!

Polish pots and pans: Take a buffer rag and rub a little beer into your brass, pots, pans, or even wood furniture. It polishes and shines, without any harsh chemicals!

Remove that rusty bolt: If a rusty bolt is giving you some trouble, pour beer over it. The acids and bubbles can help clear away enough of the rust for your to remove the bolt and move on with your day.

Soak it up: Soaking your tired feet in cold beer can make them feel better. Just pour it into a bowl and dip your piggies in. You can also add a can of beer to your bathtub full of water for a relaxing soak without spending the money for expensive bubble baths and bath salts.

Remove coffee or tea stains from your clothes: Also works for rugs and carpets! Rub a little beer in and let it soak before washing your clothes or your carpet. It will get the spot right out!
