Kids clamoring for cool costumes this year? On our tight budgets, who can afford to go buy full price costumes right around Halloween (not to mention, the homemade ones are always SO much more fun!)? Hint: you don’t have to! Making costumes at home is not as difficult as you think it is! Check out these easy, mostly no-sew costume ideas!
For the Little Ones:
The Cute Octopus – An easy, adorable octopus costume! This could be made in any color!
The Candy Diver – Send your kids scuba diving for sweets!
Cuteman, the Superhero – The most adorable of all the superheroes!
The Adorable Scientist – He’s mixing up some crazy candies in the lab!
A Spider’s Web – For you and your child together. So cute and simple!
For the Kids and Preteens:
Grape-tastic! – One of you has green balloons and the other has green balloons! Adorable!
Mrs. Claus (photo above) – We used a second hand red robe and attached a piece of white faux fur with a glue gun. Oven mitts and disposable pan came from the dollar store. I printed photos of cookies, attached them to cardboard and glued real candy on them before gluing them to the disposable pan. We used silver hair spray and Mrs. Claus glasses can be found online, at a dollar store or in a Halloween store for just a few dollars.
Batwing! – Make some bat wings out of an old umbrella!
Pretty as Punch – Find a pretty dress, a crown, and some make up for a beauty queen dress up!
Rock Star – Most of this your son or daughter might already have laying around in their closets!
Pretty little liars – Have your girls and their friends dress up like like the liars. It’s simple and hip.
For the Teenagers and Adults:
The Skeleton – Super quick and cheap for dorm parties and last minute costumes.
Flo, the Insurance Lady – Who doesn’t like Flo’s progressive commercials?
Mary Poppins – Sweet and simple. Great costume for you or your daughter!
Pinata! – All you need is a dress and some colored tissue paper!
For Any Age:
Harry Potter! – Add a scarf of Gryffindor colors, glasses, and a “scar” for a quick costume. Great for any age! You can also have all of your children dress up as the kids from Hogwarts!
Pikachu! – All you need are some yellow clothes, yellow bunny ears, and some creative face paint!
Prisoner Costume – A simple costume made with a white shirt & pants and some duct tape. Cute for any age!
Chef Candy – Chef costumes can probably be made with whatever you have lying around your kitchen already. So sweet.
Instagram! – Best last minute costume ever!
Social Media Couple – Love Facebook and Twitter? Show it off. People can even write on your “wall.”
Mr and Mrs Stick – Stick figures: easy to draw and easy to make into a fabulous costume!
